There are many ways to support Sentinel Ocean Alliance and help expand access to the ocean for youth from underserved coastal communities.
While we don’t take direct volunteers for our youth programmes — to protect the safety of our participants and maintain the quality of our coach training — there are still powerful ways to be part of our mission.
Get Involved
Join a Beach Cleanup
Take part in one of our Parley Coastal Cleanups and help remove waste while contributing to global ocean data. Cleanups are open to the public and announced regularly through our newsletter and social media channels. Every piece of waste collected and recorded helps us understand and reduce the impact of marine pollution.
Support the Sentinel Café
The Sentinel Café is more than a coffee shop — it’s a community hub that helps fund our programmes and employ local youth. Each purchase supports ocean education, inclusion, and skills development. Visit us in Hout Bay or spread the word about the café’s role in sustaining our work.
Join a Beach Cleanup
We work with schools, NGOs, and coastal organisations across South Africa, Africa, Central America, and the Caribbean to share our model of ocean education and therapy. If your organisation is interested in implementing or adapting one of our programmes, we’d love to connect.
Host a Fundraiser
Community events, sports challenges, art auctions, or school projects can all make a difference. Funds raised help provide meals, transport, and gear for children in our programmes and support the training of local coaches.
Become a Donor
Monthly or once-off contributions directly sustain our ocean education, therapy, and inclusion work. All donations go toward programme delivery, staff training, and maintaining free access for participants.
Corporate and Event Engagement
Companies can engage throughsponsorships, cleanups, and environmental education sessionsfor staff. These collaborations support environmental responsibility while contributing to tangible outcomes in local communities.
